I hope that I am able to show you why setting goals so this year will make this year the one where you achieve your dreams and start fulfilling all those ambitions you have for yourself.
Goals Help You Do Things You Never Thought Possible
If you can visualize what it is you’re trying to do it makes it so much easier to actually complete the task.
When I was asked to go to Australia with my mother and aunt to visit my brother a few years ago, I didn’t think for one moment I would be able to do it.
I printed off a picture of Bondi Beach, our apartment would be overlooking this beach and it inspired me to do all I could to save my spending money but also engage in as much therapy as I could for my anxiety issues.
Having that picture on my fridge meant every time I went into the kitchen, which is a lot, I saw my goal. I was even more determined to reach it and I did.
Have a picture or at the very least your goal is written down where you can see it regularly.
It was an amazing life experience and I worked hard towards that goal and achieved it because I was kept motivated.
Goals Make Your Dreams Come True
I know I have often found myself thinking ” I can never do that” and it was because the task ahead looked too frightening and too difficult.
I learned to break the task down into manageable smaller steps.
Planning and working towards smaller and easier to reach goals gives you a sense of achievement and encouragement.
These are stepping-stones to the bigger goal.
Most of us have goals that feel so far out of our reach, but with each stepping stone, you pass, the closer you become.
There are steps up that mountain and the view from the top it worth it.
Goals Help You Believe In Yourself
We all have dreams and ambitions but if we have low self-esteem or we are constantly believing those automatic negative thoughts that creep into our minds, you have no faith in yourself.
Each day you must put “some” time and effort into reaching your goal target, even when you have no motivation to do anything or believe there’s no point.
Start to believe in yourself, stop saying I can’t and say I can because you can.
Goals Stop You From Failing
So many of us fear failure, it’s a human instinct to want to please others and feel we are capable of doing things, but we are not perfect, we are humans and we all make mistakes and mistakes are great because we are able to learn from them.
If your January goal hasn’t gone according to plan, don’t stress, you have the following month and another 10 months after that to try again.
You only fail when you give up.
You may even find your goal has changed or the way your going to reach it has changed.
Goals are not set in stone, they can change.
You have not failed if you have not completed the goal in the time frame you set yourself, you just need to address the time needed and the plan of action.
Goals Tell You What You Want
Do you ever find yourself stuck in a rut, your unhappy but you don’t know why?
Having to set goals makes you stop and address your life and what changes you need and want to make.
What one change would you make right now if you could?
Set a goal for that now, write down in easy to follow steps how you could achieve that goal.
Figure out what it is you want in life and go out and get it.
Nothing is impossible when you believe you can.
