I need a little help so thought I would ask on the blog. How do I teach my son danger because I am scared of being on my own with my child.
My son is 4 and he seems to have no fear at all.
He will climb things, run wild and just don’t seem to care. If we are out he would try to run out into the road without looking.
He will talk to any one without a second thought.
You may have seen my blog about my son setting fire to my home. Well he then went on to trying to set fire to a blanket that he was later under, we would catch him trying to light the cooker.
We removed everything he could harm himself with but he just don’t seem to care.
He now climbs on everything.
I am scared of being on my own with my son.
He doesn’t listen when we tell him about dangers, we will explain what happens and he laughs at us.
Another example and yet another reason of why I need help to teach my son of the dangers.
We say over and over don’t put your hand near doors as it can hurt and one day he put his hand in the door and without myself realising and I shut it.
He got rushed to hospital, had to have scans, lucky it wasn’t broken but very badly damaged.
He needed plastic surgery to fix it but whilst he was in hospital he got hold of his thumb and started bending it showing the nurses, doctors and surgeons how it opens and the fact you could see the bone.
Remember he is only 4 but he never see the danger he found it cool and funny.
Even the hospital staff said how strange and brave he was.
Even now he still puts his hands near the door.
Why won’t he learn?
I Am Scared Of Being On My Own With My Child
He tells us about dangers but doesn’t seem to do what he says.
He will take his seat belt off in the car and just laughs, I have been known to lower my chair back whilst on the motorway and slide in the back as he has climbed in the boot whilst we’re driving.
Like today he climbed yet again onto my kitchen side helping himself to a drink instead of asking for one and he felll off.
It was so loud the bang and he was screaming as I run in the kitchen his face hands and t-shirt was covered in blood.
He has now got a huge fat lip and 2 big slices where his teeth nearly went through the lip.
He stopped crying as soon as we put ice on it and started to laugh.
I said to him you’re not going to climb any more and he replied yes it was good and he wants to do it again,
I am petrified I don’t know how to get my 4-year-old to understand dangers.
Please some one help me teach my son dangers of his actions.
He scares me so much it’s horrible that I’m scared of being on my own with my child.
