Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
I don’t feel I have ever gained respect from others, partly I am to blame because I didn’t respect myself. I was always at the bottom of the pack, always allowed someone to lead me.
I didn’t feel worthy of respect from others. I didn’t feel I was good enough to be associated with the social life of friends and acquaintances. I hid away afraid, afraid of the world and how it perceived me.
But things changed, I changed.
How To Gain Respect from Others
Only this morning did I receive three texts from three different people, not one to ask how I was, only to ask to either borrow money or ask for a favour, I appear to be an easy target for those who are only too happy to use my good nature.
But I am not the vulnerable woman anymore who feels she needs to help others and fall victim to their wants because I feel I need to keep others happy.
It’s time to make myself happy.
Learning to say no is difficult and I do feel slightly guilty but if I want to gain respect from others then I must change my attitude towards myself. I have to learn to love myself.
I guess in short I have found my self-respect again, I am proud of who I am, even with the mistakes I have made in the past. I can look in the mirror and think your far from perfect but who is?
Now I need to overcome and oppress those who bring me down. Whatever has hurt me has only made me stronger.
I am a good person.
I do deserve respect from others
I am be taken seriously, my feelings and thoughts do matter.
I am a good role to my children and everything I do is to make them proud, I often think would I want my own children to do this, accept this, behave this way.
If you need to verbally ask for respect from others, either you’re dealing with an immature person, or behaving in ways that cause others to respect you less.
I am beginning to treat others the same way that they treat me, if you treat me with respect then I will treat you with the same courtesy.
This girl has toughened up!
It’s important to realize that some people simply think that they’re above any moral and can treat you as they please. These types of people will do what they want, when they want and blurt out the thoughts in their mind with total disregard to the emotions of anyone else and these people will no longer have a place in my life.
I will gain respect from others because I deserve to be accepted and respected in my own right.
