Let’s Put Edge Of Insanity In The Spotlight
Can you tell our readers about yourself?
I am a 31-year-old twin lifestyle blogger from Central Texas. I am also a caregiver for my mother and a cheerleader for my twin sister, who suffers from moderate to severe General Anxiety Disorder.
How would you describe your blog?
The best way I can describe my blog is that it is a lifestyle blog that covers a lot of different topics that are important to me and my readers.
What inspired you to start your blog?
It actually just started as a personal journal sort of blog, having blogged at Texas Banter for quite a few years. I just wanted a creative outlet to put down my thoughts and witty sayings. Over the years, it’s been a deal/coupon blog and eventually evolved into what it is now.
What topics do you cover on your blog?
I try to cover only topics that matter to me (and my readers) like health/weight loss, dating, beauty/fashion, food/crafts, reviews, and giveaways. Occasionally something else out of that realm will come up, but not very often.
How do you want to improve yourself and your blog in the next year? I haven’t really thought about it but I think I want to try and become more organized. I don’t have a set system except a few sticky notes and my calendar app.
I haven’t really thought about it but I think I want to try and become more organized. I don’t have a set system except a few sticky notes and my calendar app.
How do you motivate yourself to keep your blog up and running?
Coffee. Lots of coffee. Oh, and mini-breaks. If I didn’t take a day off once in a while, I would get burnt out quickly.
What do you find the most frustrating aspect of blogging?
Traffic. Sometimes it’s up and sometimes it’s down, making it difficult to really keep that upward momentum going.
What is the most positive aspect of blogging?
When a reader tells you that they appreciate everything you do. THAT is what makes it all worthwhile.
How much time do you spend blogging?
I can spend up to 8 hours a day just working on the blog, spreadsheets, pictures, and sometimes just writing down ideas.
Have you always blogged about the same content you blog about today?
Not by a long shot. For a while, I blogged just about deals, coupons, reviews, and giveaways. But as my life evolved, so did my content.
Would you encourage other people to make their own blog?
Absolutely! If they have something they want to say or show, then by all means, do it!
What is the best advice you could give to someone who is just starting their own blog?
Just be patient. Growth doesn’t happen overnight but once it does, it’s magical.
What type of networking do you think is better to enhance your traffic to the blog and to engage with your readers?
It really depends on the type of blog. Crafts/food blogs do better on Instagram and Pinterest while blogs like mine do better on Twitter and Facebook. Take some time to find out which social media network brings you the most traffic.
Is blogging your profession or just a hobby?
For me, it’s definitely my profession. It has not only helped my family (with the reviews and compensation), but I have worked so hard for it to be just a hobby.
A lot of people think that blogging is an easy way to make money online? Do you agree?
No, I do not. It took me a few years to start making money, and at first, it wasn’t even $200 a year. I was lucky to even break $100 a year! Even though I am making more now, it is still a lot of work.
