I wrote this domestic violence poem many years ago but I wanted to share it here on the blog.
I personally spent 11 years in an abusive marriage.
Domestic Violence Poem
Don’t ever tell, is all you are told,
Over the years your heart becomes cold,
Mind games begin to make you insane,
Enduring the heartache, the hurt, the pain,
Standing alone just a face in the crowd,
Trying to speak out, but your voice isn’t loud,
Inside your soul is beginning to die,
Convincing yourself your life’s not a lie.
Violence and insults are only a part,
In time it destroys your soul and heart,
Over and over, just when will it end?
Living in a make believe world you pretend,
Everything’s normal and life is just great,
Never showing the fear, the anger, the hate,
Confidence gone and self-esteem shot,
Everything you once were, you now have forgot.
Can you relate to this domestic violence poem at all?
